Oil

Oil is by far the most popular energy source and the world's appetite for oil is growing. In the first quarter of 2005, world oil use was estimated at close to 83 million barrels per day. The United States accounts for a quarter of the world's oil consumption, 25 percent of which is burned as gasoline on the road.

According to the Energy Information Agency, demand for oil is expected to increase by 54% in the first 25 years of the 21st century. To meet that demand, the world's oil-producing countries will have to pump out an additional 44 million barrels of oil every day by 2025.

Much of the growth in demand - about 40% will come from Asia, spurred by the rapidly growing economies in China and India. China's demand for oil is expected to continue to increase by five to seven % a year. If that happens, China will surpass the United States as the world's largest consumer of oil by 2025.
The world has produced 1 trillion barrels of oil to date. Over the next century or so, approximately 2 trillion barrels more are expected to be produced.

TOT Energy, is ready to play a role in the future of the world's oil supply by leveraging our partnerships in key locations, including Russia and Kazakhstan.
